Good News!

Good News! is the Flying Horse Big Band’s sixth album and first studio collaboration with the UCF Studio Orchestra. Jeff “T-Bone” Gerard, guest vocalist on the band’s 2015 album Into the Mystic, returns for a beautiful rendering of John Lennon’s “Imagine.”

The music centers on work by the masters: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Bob Mintzer.

About the Band

Good News! is the sixth album from The Flying Horse Big Band, composed of students in UCF’s jazz studies program.

Their previous album, The Bat Swings! (2018), hit the top three national jazz airplay charts, hitting No. 1 on both the Roots Music Report and the North American College and Community Radio chart, as well as No. 29 on JazzWeek.

Director Jeff Rupert

Jeff Rupert is an accomplished composer, saxophonist, record producer, and recording artist who has been a featured soloist with artists including Sam Rivers, Mel Tormé, Maynard Ferguson, and Benny Carter.

He is currently the leader of The Jazz Professors, director of The Flying Horse Big Band, and conductor of the Florida Symphony Youth Jazz Orchestra. Rupert is a Yamaha artist and founder of Flying Horse Records.
